# West Ham fans bemoan David Moyes’ fitness update on Michail Antonio

Numerous [West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2021/02/08/fashion-sakaka-contract-talks-stall-west-ham-transfer-rumours/) fans have been handed an opportunity to once again bemoan the [lack of a January striker signing](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/west-ham-united/transfers/verein/379/plus/1?saison_id=2020&pos=&detailpos=&w_s=w) after [David Moyes](https://readwestham.com/2021/02/03/west-ham-plan-outlined-for-rest-of-season/) confirmed the ‘close call’ which awaits [Michail Antonio](https://readwestham.com/2021/02/02/ivan-toney-would-be-perfect-successor-to-michail-antonio-at-west-ham/)‘s availability.

Speaking ahead of the Hammers’ trip to his former stomping ground Old Trafford on Tuesday to face Manchester United in the FA Cup fifth round, Moyes [confirmed](https://www.whufc.com/news/articles/2021/february/08-february/it-happened-david-moyes-pre-manchester-united-press) that his talismanic 30-year-old was a doubt for the trip due to tiredness.

Antonio was [replaced in the 74th minute](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/spielbericht/index/spielbericht/3429715) during West Ham’s goalless draw against Fulham on Saturday, having looked [short on his usual high intensity](https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/west-ham-michail-antonio-fulham-b918884.html) throughout the match.

Moyes said: “He’s still fatigued so it will be a close call whether he makes it or not. We’ll need to assess him tomorrow to see if he’s able to play.”

Having not signed a backup striker after allowing Sebastien Haller to leave, Moyes’ options are limited and the manager could be forced to play a forward out of position, or possibly draw on young striker [Ademipo Odubeko](https://readwestham.com/2021/02/02/west-ham-fans-put-faith-in-ademipo-odubeko/).

Unsurprisingly, plenty of the Irons faithful have given their thoughts on Twitter and, in the main, they are all saying the same thing…

> Twitter: @RoshaneSport If only there was a transfer window recently that could have prevented Antonio being fatigued ![😂](https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/13.0.1/svg/1f602.svg) (@adambrown93)

> Twitter: @RoshaneSport If only we signed a striker when we had a whole month to do so not like everyone saw this coming ![😂](https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/13.0.1/svg/1f602.svg) (@willearle\_)
