# West Ham fans react to positive Arthur Masuaku injury update

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2021/02/05/west-ham-could-pay-just-10m-for-permanent-jesse-lingard-move/) defender [Arthur Masuaku](https://readwestham.com/2020/12/15/arthur-masuaku-set-for-west-ham-return-in-early-january/) has been sidelined with injury since early December after [undergoing an operation](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/55290430#:~:text=West%20Ham%20defender%20Arthur%20Masuaku,me%20for%20nearly%20two%20years%22.&text=After%20the%20game%2C%20manager%20David,surgery%20on%20his%20right%20knee.) to fix a long-standing knee problem.

During his absence, the Hammers have [coped remarkably well](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/west-ham-united/spielplan/verein/379) despite the 27-year-old [playing a pivotal role](https://www.sofascore.com/player/arthur-masuaku/174975) up until his enforced layoff.

Speaking in his [pre-match press conference](https://www.whufc.com/news/articles/2021/february/05-february/it-happened-david-moyes-pre-fulham-press-conference) ahead of Saturday’s all-London clash with Fulham, Irons manager David Moyes confirmed that the DR Congo international returned to light training this week and he predicted a return to action in “a month or so”.

Despite an upturn in performances from West Ham in his absence, Masuaku could still have a [part to play this season](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/arthur-masuaku/leistungsdaten/spieler/181380) for the Irons as Moyes looks to guide his team to a European place.

These West Ham fans have reacted with glee to the “brilliant news” from the manager regarding the “absolute baller”, as one supporter dubbed Masuaku:

> Twitter: @WestHam\_Central yes @ArthurMasuaku great news (@GameRiotArmy)

> Twitter: @WestHam\_Central He’s our option similar to fredericks and coufal if there’s a tricky right winger we can do cress/masuaku (@antcram)

> Twitter: @WHUFCFZ Miss big Arthur. He gives us that choice to switch it up against bigger teams and was an absolute baller before injury![👌](https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/13.0.1/svg/1f44c.svg) (@Gazsmith10)

> Twitter: @WestHamViews\_ He’s already at the same fitness as peak Haller then (@SamInStockwell)
