# West Ham Player Ratings: Aston Villa (A)

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2021/02/03/sevilla-chief-one-day-negotiations-west-ham-en-nesyri/) returned to winning ways last night with an [emphatic 3-1 victory](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11095/12207768/aston-villa-1-3-west-ham-jesse-lingard-makes-dream-debut-scoring-twice-as-david-moyes-men-win-at-villa-park) and performance to boot against [Aston Villa](https://readastonvilla.com/2021/02/04/harry-redknapp-tips-john-terry-for-bournemouth-job/).

It was Manchester United loanee [Jesse Lingard](https://readwestham.com/2021/02/03/west-ham-plan-outlined-for-rest-of-season/) who stole the show as the 28-year-old bagged a brace on his [Hammers debut](https://www.skysports.com/football/a-villa-vs-west-ham/429047) as well as [adding extra energy](https://www.sofascore.com/player/jesse-lingard/205508) to David Moyes’ side.

After an even first half, the [deadlock was broken](https://www.whufc.com/news/articles/2021/february/04-february/extended-highlights-aston-villa-1-3-west-ham-united) by the [in-form Tomas Soucek](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/tomas-soucek/leistungsdaten/spieler/283628) shortly after the interval before Lingard then stole the show. The attacking midfielder was found twice by Michail Antonio and, on both occasions, the [former England regular](https://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/england-squad-lingard-man-utd-17025903) finished impressively.

A smart Ollie Watkins finish separated the West Ham loanee’s two strikes, but the Irons weren’t to be denied as Moyes’ men closed the [gap on the top four](https://www.premierleague.com/tables) in the Premier League.  The Hammers will now travel across London to face Fulham on Saturday.

Here’s how we rated the West Ham players from a successful night at Villa Park…
