# Report: West Ham make late bid to sign Idrissa Gueye

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2021/02/01/these-west-ham-fans-want-to-see-diego-costa-signed/) have reportedly made a late bid to sign former Everton midfielder Idrissa Gueye according to journalist [Dave Appadoo](https://twitter.com/lequipedestelle/status/1356283761588117504).

There are no details around the structure or type of deal from the French journalist, however, but it is claimed the Hammers could make a late swoop for the PSG ace.

The 31-year-old central midfielder was a revelation during his in the Premier League and earned a[big-money switch to France](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/49149867) back in 2019.

Despite playing a[large part of the campaign](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/idrissa-gueye/leistungsdaten/spieler/126665) so far, Gueye is reportedly [allowed to leave](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-9208191/Newcastle-launch-ambitious-favour-PSG-midfielder-Idrissa-Gueye.html)Paris as new manager Mauricio Pochettino puts his own stamp on the side.

The Senegalese international, who was[described as ‘amazing’](https://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/amazing-idrissa-gueye-earns-praise-from-everton-teammate/1ip2gzdhvboq819mcdf0jubyb4) by former teammate Morgan Schneiderlin, made [134 top-flight appearances](https://www.premierleague.com/players/12582/Idrissa-Gueye/stats) during his time in England and became an integral part of Everton’s side.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

Having paid £30m for the midfielder less than two years ago, it is likely PSG would be keen to recoup a[modest chunk of that fee](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/idrissa-gueye/marktwertverlauf/spieler/126665) should they sanction a late sale.

The Irons could certainly use a player like Gueye however, with [Declan Rice](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/01/27/liverpool-fans-welcome-declan-rice-transfer-rumours/)and Tomas Soucek[currently required without rest](https://www.premierleague.com/stats/top/players/mins_played)as David Moyes has little in the way of options to replace the duo.

Albeit not the striker craved, a late deal for the[ex-Premier League star](https://www.premierleague.com/stats/top/players/total_tackle) would be a nice tonic at the end of the transfer window.
