# Report: West Ham handed Josh King boost as Bournemouth change asking price

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2021/02/01/report-west-ham-target-billy-gilmour-wanted-by-southampton/) could have been handed a late boost in the transfer window as Bournemouth reportedly change their stance on [Josh King](https://readwestham.com/2021/01/13/roshane-thomas-believes-josh-king-is-most-realistic-january-arrival/) according to journalist [Alex Crook](https://twitter.com/alex_crook/status/1356162303096479745?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1356162303096479745%7Ctwgr%5E%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Ffootballleagueworld.co.uk%2Fefl-side-changes-transfer-stance-in-potential-boost-to-everton-west-ham-united%2F).

The Hammers have been[long time suitors](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-9178329/Bournemouths-Joshua-King-West-Hams-sights-replacement-flop-Sebastian-Haller.html)for the 29-year-old and could resurrect their interest as the Championship club reportedly lower their demands for the[previously wantaway](https://www.teamtalk.com/news/bournemouth-jason-tindall-responds-joshua-king-worst-months) frontman.

The other deal mentioned by Crook is a potential swap deal involving Shane Long of Southampton as the Saints also show late interest in the man with [48 career Premier League goals](https://www.premierleague.com/players/3926/Joshua-King/overview).

The Norwegian striker has struggled to find form this season and is [yet to either score or assist](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/joshua-king/leistungsdaten/spieler/91059) in 13 Championship appearances.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

The King to West Ham drum has[been repeatedly](https://footballleagueworld.co.uk/josh-king-and-links-with-aston-villa-everton-and-west-ham-what-do-we-know-so-far-is-it-likely-to-happen/) struck for some time now and even at this late hour in the market it hasn’t shown signs of ceasing.

Having previously reportedly demanded in [excess of £15m](https://www.theguardian.com/football/2020/oct/08/west-ham-reluctant-to-pay-175m-to-sign-joshua-king-from-bournemouth)for the striker, a drop in asking price would fall into the realms of affordability for the Irons.

There is no doubt [David Moyes needs a new striker](https://www.football.london/west-ham-united-fc/news/west-ham-january-striker-transfer-19655553) before the window closes, something that is looking increasingly unlikely – to everyone’s surprise.

Having sold Sebastien Haller at the start of the window, it would have to go down as a failure were the club not to replace the Ivorian, putting [huge pressure on Michail Antonio](https://www.whufc.com/teams/first-team/squad)both in terms of performances but also maintained fitness.
