# West Ham agree deal to sign Jesse Lingard

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2021/01/29/west-ham-among-contenders-kwadwo-baah-transfer-race/) look set to complete the deal to bring [Jesse Lingard](https://readwestham.com/2021/01/28/west-ham-delay-jesse-lingard-deal-over-loan-fee-dispute/) to the London Stadium on loan for the remainder of the season, as reported by [Sky Sports](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11685/12201682/man-utd-transfer-news-jesse-lingard-set-to-seal-west-ham-loan-after-rejecting-newcastle-and-west-brom).

The 28-year-old will undergo a medical before sealing his move to the Hammers and the attacking midfielder [all-but-confirmed](https://www.instagram.com/stories/jesselingard/2496918472922484960/?hl=en) the switch on his Instagram story, as the [24-cap England international](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jesse-lingard/nationalmannschaft/spieler/141660/verein_id/3299) posted a picture of packed bags with the words: ‘London Bound #HammerTime’.

Having [fallen out of favour](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/49921214#:~:text=Midfielders%20Dele%20Alli%20and%20Jesse,Abraham%2C%20has%20also%20been%20picked.) at Manchester United and for England, Lingard will be hoping to revive his career under a familiar face in David Moyes, who managed him during [his time at Old Trafford](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/22453802).

Lingard was [previously considered a pivotal player](https://www.fourfourtwo.com/features/man-utd-liverpool-jesse-lingard-big-game-player-outcast) on the big stage by both club and country, but the midfielder will leave Manchester having [not played any Premier League football](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jesse-lingard/leistungsdaten/spieler/141660) this season.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

There will be those who give a compelling argument to question the sense in this signing, given the [relative strength in depth](https://www.whufc.com/teams/first-team/squad) within the Irons’ squad in attacking midfield positions.

However, Lingard on his day [offers something different](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/109000/Show/Jesse-Lingard)to those he will soon consider his new teammates.

As [impressive](https://www.sofascore.com/player/said-benrahma/354808) as Said Benrahma has been at times in his short career in claret and blue, the Algerian is [yet to find the back of the net](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/said-benrahma/leistungsdaten/spieler/290532) for West Ham, something an in-form Lingard has a [proven track record](https://www.premierleague.com/players/4337/Jesse-Lingard/stats) of being capable of doing.
