# West Ham fans split over Billy Gilmour loan rumours

A number of [West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2021/01/28/west-ham-prepare-fresh-move-for-youssef-en-nesyri/) fans have had their say on rumours of a potential loan move for Chelsea midfielder [Billy Gilmour](https://readwestham.com/2021/01/28/david-moyes-keen-on-billy-gilmour-west-ham-loan-deal/), as reported by [The Mirror](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/west-ham-transfers-news-moyes-23395557?2=).

The young Scot is reportedly on the radar of David Moyes, who would be keen to add the talented 19-year-old to his ranks at the London Stadium were he deemed surplus to requirements by new Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel.

Having [burst onto the scene last season](https://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/gilmour-reveals-what-lampard-said-to-him-before-man-of-the-match-/mq7ztond0u4q10spswpwk1z96), the world seemed to be at Gilmour’s quick feet. However, a [major injury setback hampered his development](https://talksport.com/football/730192/billy-gilmour-injury-frank-lampard-chelsea-knee-operation/) and, [up until recently](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/billy-gilmour/leistungsdaten/spieler/423744), the youngster had been out of the first team picture at Stamford Bridge.

Despite recognising [Gilmour’s precocious talents](https://www.thesportsman.com/articles/small-in-stature-big-in-talent-chelsea-s-billy-gilmour-is-the-model-midfielder), with the Hammers exceeding expectations this season and midfield duo [Declan Rice and Tomas Soucek driving their ambitions](https://www.premierleague.com/stats/top/players/total_tackle), some of the Irons faithful have questioned the need for the youngster, whilst others fully endorse a potential move for him.

Here’s a flavour of the Twitter reaction from West Ham supporters:
