# West Ham fans praise Craig Dawson as his redemption continues

Plenty of [West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2021/01/27/crystal-palace-2-3-west-ham-player-ratings/) fans have been made to eat their early-season words regarding [Craig Dawson](https://readwestham.com/2021/01/27/west-ham-could-sign-craig-dawson-permanently-this-month/) after the centre-back scored what was ultimately the winner against Crystal Palace last night.

Dawson’s brave 65th-minute header from a Jarrod Bowen corner [gave the Hammers a 3-1 lead](https://www.whufc.com/news/articles/2021/january/27-january/extended-highlights-crystal-palace-2-3-west-ham-united) and proved to be the pivotal goal, meaning the on-loan Watford man now has [two winning goals to his name](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/av/football/55626018) this month.

Having struggled to [force his way into the reckoning](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/craig-dawson/leistungsdaten/spieler/121477) in the early months of the season, some pundits (and possibly a few fans, too) had [begun to question](https://www.footballinsider247.com/phillips-exclusive-west-ham-tipped-to-terminate-loan-within-weeks-amid-strange-claim/) the loan signing.

Much was made of [David Moyes’ pursuit of Burnley’s James Tarkowski](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11685/12068963/james-tarkowski-david-moyes-says-west-ham-unable-to-pay-50m-for-burnley-defender) among others in the summer, and many may [have been underwhelmed](https://www.hertfordshiremercury.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/west-ham-watford-dawson-transfer-4881595) by the eventual arrival of the 30-year-old from Watford in October.

However, Dawson has been [solidity personified](https://www.sofascore.com/player/craig-dawson/50027) at the back, and some important goals have led to plenty of the Irons faithful performing a U-turn on their opinions of the defender.

We’ve rounded up the pick of the reactions from a host of fans hailing the redemption of the defensive ‘rock’:
