# West Ham interested in Anthony ‘Choco’ Lozano

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2021/01/27/west-ham-fans-praise-craig-dawson-redemption-goal-palace/) could be about to turn their attention once again as [Goal.com](https://www.goal.com/es/noticias/el-west-ham-interesado-en-el-posible-fichaje-del-choco/1gc5x8bpe85ev1s8xzf5ik4pym) reported that the Hammers are interested in a move for Cádiz striker Anthony Lozano.

[David Moyes](https://readwestham.com/2021/01/27/david-moyes-right-to-call-for-west-ham-scouting-upgrades/) has seen plenty of reported [centre-forward targets fall by the wayside](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-9175189/West-Ham-not-interested-raising-22m-offer-Sevillas-Youssef-En-Nesyri.html) this month after Sebastien Haller left for Ajax, leaving Michail Antonio as their [only senior striker](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/west-ham-united/kadernachposition/verein/379), and the latest to be linked with the Irons is Lozano, who is affectionately known as ‘Choco’.

[Goal.com](https://www.goal.com/es/noticias/el-west-ham-interesado-en-el-posible-fichaje-del-choco/1gc5x8bpe85ev1s8xzf5ik4pym) claimed that the Hammers see Lozano as an ‘interesting signing’ and are ‘studying the possibility’ of making an offer for the 27-year-old this month.

Capped by Honduras on [33 occasions](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/choco-lozano/nationalmannschaft/spieler/131275/verein_id/3590), he has been far from a prolific goalscorer throughout his career ([48 goals in 249 games](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/choco-lozano/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/131275)) and only has [three goals in 16 La Liga appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/choco-lozano/leistungsdaten/spieler/131275) this season.

Valued at £2.25m by [Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/choco-lozano/marktwertverlauf/spieler/131275), the report claimed that Cadiz would accept around €10m (£8.8m) for their centre-forward.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

Whilst West Ham’s need for a striker is glaringly obvious, their [current run of form](https://www.footballwebpages.co.uk/west-ham-united/form-guide) aside, Lozano doesn’t seem to have the credentials to be the answer.

Although Moyes’ side are now adept at [getting goals from all over the pitch](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-9189905/Crystal-Palace-1-3-West-Ham-Hammers-fourth-thanks-Tomas-Soucek-brace-Craig-Dawson-header.html), anyone who comes in to act as an understudy must be able to find the net when called upon. However, the [Honduran’s record](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/choco-lozano/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/131275) won’t fill anyone with confidence that he can deliver.

At Cadiz, Lozano [plays up front alongside](https://www.sofascore.com/player/anthony-lozano/169549) former Manchester City striker Alvaro Negredo and the two have [forged an impressive partnership](https://uk.sports.yahoo.com/football/la-liga/c%C3%A1diz-alav%C3%A9s-531022/). Therefore, playing as a lone striker in West Ham’s system may be beyond his comfort zone.
