# West Ham linked with Danish starlet Mikkel Damsgaard

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2021/01/26/west-ham-pole-position-jesse-lingard-loan-move-transfer-latest/) have been linked with a move for Sampdoria winger Mikkel Damsgaard in a report from Calciomercato (via [Club Doria 46](https://www.clubdoria46.it/2021/01/25/calciomercato-sampdoria-premier-bussa-ancora-damsgaard/)).

The report goes one step further and claims that the Hammers held a meeting with the 20-year-old as [David Moyes](https://readwestham.com/2021/01/21/david-moyes-should-look-to-mikel-oyarzabal-for-west-ham-to-push-on/) makes a point of [attempting to freshen up his squad](https://www.theguardian.com/football/2020/jan/28/david-moyes-west-ham-sign-younger-players) at the London Stadium with young talent.

There is also [interest in the Dane](https://www.clubdoria46.it/2021/01/25/calciomercato-sampdoria-premier-bussa-ancora-damsgaard/) from London rivals Tottenham, as well as Serie A giants [Inter Milan and Juventus](https://www.juvefc.com/juventus-and-inter-battling-for-the-same-exciting-youngster/).

[Capped already](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/mikkel-damsgaard/nationalmannschaft/spieler/540941/verein_id/3436) by his nation’s senior side, Damsgaard – who is [predominantly a left winger](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/mikkel-damsgaard/leistungsdaten/spieler/540941) with capabilities of playing across the frontline – looks to have a bright future ahead of him.

In this season’s Serie A, the [fleet-footed starlet](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/401168/Show/Mikkel-Damsgaard) has shown maturity beyond his years, [contributing towards five goals in 18 appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/mikkel-damsgaard/leistungsdaten/spieler/540941) and earning an average [Sofascore](https://www.sofascore.com/player/damsgaard-mikkel/907072) match rating of 6.74.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

Moyes has made it his foremost priority to [sign young talent](https://www.whufc.com/news/articles/2020/december/22-december/west-ham-united-sign-promising-danish-defender-frederik) of late, and Damsgaard could be the next in a [long queue of prospects](https://www.footballinsider247.com/medical-booked-west-ham-agree-new-signing-as-player-jets-in-to-london-today-exclusive/) lined up by the Irons manager.

Building for the future is imperative if the Hammers are going to maintain their challenge in the [upper reaches of the Premier League](https://www.skysports.com/premier-league-table), so casting an eye on the next generation of talent can only be viewed a positive.

Having [received praise](https://sport.tv2.dk/fodbold/2021-01-09-dejligt-han-gad-snakke-med-mig-siger-komet-om-eriksen) from compatriot and [former Premier League midfielder](https://www.premierleague.com/players/4845/Christian-Eriksen/stats) Christian Eriksen, the Sampdoria ace has been catching the eye of the game’s elite; and West Ham would be wise to be in contention in the summer, [when it is expected](https://www.tuttomercatoweb.com/inter/?action=read&idtmw=1479585) that the Dane could move on.
