# West Ham fans pleased with Matthew Bondswell’s impending arrival

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2021/01/25/west-ham-fans-excited-transfer-links-odsonne-edouard/) are reportedly on the verge of making their second January signing in the shape of RB Leipzig teenager [Matthew Bondswell](https://readwestham.com/2021/01/25/west-ham-agree-matthew-bondswell-transfer/) and many of the Irons faithful have been reacting to the news.

The deal was reported by [Football Insider](https://www.footballinsider247.com/medical-booked-west-ham-agree-new-signing-as-player-jets-in-to-london-today-exclusive/) on Monday morning, with claims that the 18-year-old is set to undergo a medical early this week ahead of his move to east London.

A product of the Nottingham Forest youth system, Bondswell is a left-back who has represented [England at under-18 level](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/matthew-bondswell/nationalmannschaft/spieler/565682/verein_id/31269) and will likely join the Hammers’ youth sides should the move pass without a hitch, whilst learning his trade from [first team stalwart Aaron Creswell](https://www.whufc.com/teams/first-team/squad/aaron-cresswell#Profile).

Far be it from time to be writing off [Cresswell’s impact](https://www.premierleague.com/stats/top/players/total_pass) in David Moyes’ side, there is a general acceptance that a talented understudy was in order.

Irons fans everywhere will hope that Bondswell is the long-term successor at left-back and as such have been reacting to the news of the “highly-rated” talent’s impending arrival…
