# West Ham agree Matthew Bondswell transfer

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2021/01/25/west-ham-fans-excited-transfer-links-odsonne-edouard/) have agreed on a deal to sign [Matthew Bondswell](https://readwestham.com/2020/12/03/west-ham-face-porto-chelsea-competition-matthew-bondswell-transfer-race/) from RB Leipzig, according to [Football Insider](https://www.footballinsider247.com/medical-booked-west-ham-agree-new-signing-as-player-jets-in-to-london-today-exclusive/).

The England Under-18 full-back is reportedly heading to east London for a medical after agreeing the terms of a move.

David Moyes has been [linked with numerous young full-backs](https://www.footballinsider247.com/exclusive-west-ham-set-sights-on-jan-signing-pundit-it-may-spell-end-for-cresswell/) as the Irons manager looks to underpin his first team squad with ready-made replenishment.

Bondswell, an 18-year-old who [signed for RB Leipzig](https://www.bundesliga.com/en/news/Bundesliga/future-england-star-matthew-bondswell-rb-leipzig-man-united-liverpool-nottingham-forest-509771.jsp#:~:text=Matthew%20Bondswell%20has%20joined%20RB,the%20young%2C%20raw%20and%20gifted.) from the youth setup at Nottingham Forest, will be Moyes’ second teenage defensive signing this month after [completing a deal for Frederik Alves](https://www.whufc.com/news/articles/2020/december/22-december/west-ham-united-sign-promising-danish-defender-frederik) at the start of the transfer window.

The teenager will bring an end to a season-long loan with [Dutch second division side FC Dordrecht](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/matthew-bondswell/leistungsdaten/spieler/565682) in order to complete his move to the London Stadium.

During his spell in the Nertherlands, Bondswell – who has [12 England youth caps](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/matthew-bondswell/nationalmannschaft/spieler/565682/verein_id/31269) – has played seven times, earning an average [Sofascore](https://www.sofascore.com/player/matthew-bondswell/980648) match rating of 6.37.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

There’s no doubt about it; Moyes is planning for the future.

Having signed Alves as an apparent Angelo Ogbonna successor, Bondswell could well be viewed as the heir to [Aaron Cresswell’s glistening throne](https://www.premierleague.com/players/8897/Aaron-Cresswell/stats).

The Hammers may be especially delighted to have pulled off this coup ahead of London rivals Chelsea, who [were also keen](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-9000447/Chelsea-West-Ham-monitoring-situation-RB-Leipzig-left-Matthew-Bondswell.html) on the teenage starlet.
