# Fans react to Josh Maja transfer links with West Ham

Plenty of [West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2021/01/22/west-ham-fans-issa-diop-allowed-leave-on-loan/) fans have been reacting to transfer links with Bordeaux striker [Josh Maja](https://readwestham.com/2021/01/22/alex-crook-names-josh-maja-as-potential-west-ham-target/) after [talkSPORT’s Alex Crook](https://talksport.com/radio/listen-again/1611223200/1611228600/) claimed the potential move was worth keeping an eye on.

Maja came to prominence in 2018 with his early-season form for Sunderland when he was unleashed on League One, scoring [15 times in just 24 appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/josh-maja/leistungsdaten/spieler/453824/plus/0?saison=2018).

What followed was a [highly controversial move](https://www.sunderlandecho.com/sport/football/sunderland-afc/stories-behind-josh-majas-stunning-rise-and-controversial-exit-sunderland-til-i-die-highlights-key-club-mistakes-2527582)to France in January 2019. one which was played out for all to see on Netflix documentary *Sunderland ‘Til I Die*.

Since his switch to Ligue 1 [for an undisclosed fee](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/47014174), the 22-year-old striker has enjoyed a [modicum of success](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/josh-maja/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/453824/verein/40) and should return to England better for the experience.

Described as [‘really impressive’](https://twitter.com/SleevesElliott/status/1062463315652284418) by former Sunderland and Wolves midfielder Stephen Elliott, Maja appears to [have all the attributes](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/325156/Show/Josh-Maja) to succeed at the highest level.

The Irons’ faithful have chipped in their thoughts over the potential signing, as well as one observation from a fan from elsewhere referencing the [much-maligned](https://thisisfutbol.com/2020/06/blogs/premier-league/west-ham-united-journalist-slates-sebastien-haller/) ex-Irons striker Sebastien Haller…
