# Pundit claims West Ham could present ‘good opportunity’ for Eddie Nketiah

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2021/01/18/west-ham-could-offer-cash-and-lanzini-for-morgan-sanson/) could be the ideal destination for a permanent transfer for [Eddie Nketiah](https://readarsenal.com/2020/11/26/mikel-arteta-puts-faith-in-youth-molde-europa-league/), according to former Arsenal striker Kevin Campbell.

Having [recently been linked](https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/eddie-nketiah-west-ham-arsenal-transfer-news-b763777.html) with the [England under-21](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/eddie-nketiah/nationalmannschaft/spieler/340324/verein_id/9565) star, the Hammers have been described as a ‘good opportunity’ for the Gunners youngster, should he wish to leave on a permanent basis this month.

Campbell spoke to [Football Insider](https://www.footballinsider247.com/pundit-exclusive-west-ham-tipped-to-sign-arsenal-player-in-20m-deal-amid-arteta-claim/) about the 21-year-old and his [desires to obtain regular first team football](https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/eddie-nketiah-west-ham-arsenal-transfer-news-b763777.html), saying: “With Martinelli back in the frame as well, West Ham might be a good opportunity for Nketiah to leave whether it be on loan or permanently, and I can see it happening, Arteta has to chop and change that squad. There are a couple of tough decisions coming up.”

David Moyes is certainly in the market for a striker after sanctioning the [departure of Sebastien Haller](https://www.theguardian.com/football/2021/jan/08/west-ham-sell-sebastien-haller-to-ajax-at-25m-loss) last week – a deal which boosted the Irons’ coffers to the tune of £25m, not dissimilar to the fee Campbell believes would be [sufficient to land Nketiah](https://www.footballinsider247.com/pundit-exclusive-west-ham-tipped-to-sign-arsenal-player-in-20m-deal-amid-arteta-claim/).

The talented youngster has [barely featured in recent weeks](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/eddie-nketiah/leistungsdaten/spieler/340324) having previously been a regular contributor since [returning to the Emirates](https://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/arsenal-recall-nketiah-leeds-loan-bielsa/174hct335838j18awre31oiopk#:~:text=Nketiah%20himself%20confirmed%20that%20he,for%20such%20an%20amazing%20club.) from his loan spell at Leeds United last season.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

The need for a new centre-forward at the London Stadium has been highlighted over the weekend.

Despite grabbing the [only goal of the match](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11661/12189526/west-ham-1-0-burnley-michail-antonio-scores-winner-as-hammers-maintain-solid-form) for the Hammers against Burnley, Michail Antonio ran himself into the ground for the cause, which prompted [Moyes to admit](https://www.football.london/west-ham-united-fc/news/west-ham-antonio-striker-transfer-19641327) that “we don’t expect him to play every minute in every game”.

At just 21 and having shown [plenty of promise](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11095/10676766/eddie-nketiah-all-you-need-to-know-about-the-arsenal-striking-prospect) in his fledging senior appearances, Moyes could do a lot worse than heeding Campbell’s suggestion and attempting to bring in Nketiah.
