# West Ham ‘approach’ representatives of Jean-Ricner Bellegarde

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2021/01/05/west-ham-reject-chance-to-bring-back-marko-arnautovic/) have contracted the representatives of Strasbourg midfielder Jean-Ricner Bellegarde, according to a report from French outlet [Foot Mercato](https://www.footmercato.net/a4804578986677633232-west-ham-et-crystal-palace-se-penchent-sur-jean-ricner-bellegarde).

The Hammers aren’t the only side interested in the young Frenchman, as [Crystal Palace](https://readcrystalpalace.com/) are also mentioned as making their presence known to the player’s entourage.

Bellegarde, a [versatile](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jean-ricner-bellegarde/profil/spieler/450050) 22-year-old midfielder, only [signed for the Ligue 1 club last year](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jean-ricner-bellegarde/transfers/spieler/450050) and has [impressed this season](https://www.sofascore.com/player/jean-ricner-bellegarde/845273) in his 15 league appearances.

Irons manager [David Moyes](https://readwestham.com/2021/01/04/david-moyes-drops-exciting-transfer-hint/) could be keen to bolster his midfield ranks this month, with Declan Rice and Tomas Soucek currently being asked to play [every minute of every Premier League game](https://www.whoscored.com/Teams/29/Show/England-West-Ham).

The Hammers are also facing a crossroads as regards [club legend](https://www.whufc.com/news/articles/2019/december/31-december/mark-noble-voted-hammer-decade) Mark Noble, who has suffered through [injury](https://www.eveningexpress.co.uk/sport/michail-antonio-and-mark-noble-miss-out-as-west-ham-host-fulham/) and [lack of game-time](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/mark-noble/leistungsdaten/spieler/31835) this season, leading to [generally disappointing performances](https://www.sofascore.com/player/mark-noble/9741) whenever he has featured.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

With a [Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jean-ricner-bellegarde/marktwertverlauf/spieler/450050) value of just £3.6m, West Ham could pursue a deal for the former Haiti international. The player’s modest value, combined with the ongoing [financial struggles in French football,](https://www.90min.com/posts/the-french-football-financial-crisis-explained) could play right into the West Ham hierarchy’s hands.

We endorse the signing given the lack of midfield options currently available to Moyes. Plus, with Bellegarde boasting an impressive [passing accuracy rate of 82%](https://www.sofascore.com/player/jean-ricner-bellegarde/845273) overall, he seems a player with considerable potential.
