# Opinion: Christian Eriksen to West Ham is a no brainer for all parties

Danish midfielder [Christan Eriksen](https://readwestham.com/2020/12/08/west-ham-named-as-potential-suitors-for-christian-eriksen/) has endured a torrid time following his dream move to Inter Milan and is widely [expected to leave](https://talksport.com/football/793080/tottenham-christian-eriksen-inter-milan-january-arsenal-transfer-reports/#:~:text=Christian%20Eriksen%20has%20'asked%20to%20be%20sold'%20by%20Inter%20Milan,next%20step%20in%20his%20career.)in the not too distant future.

As is often the case with once elite players deemed past their best, [West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2020/12/31/report-west-ham-united-keeping-tabs-on-josh-dasilva/)have been linked with a move, much to the[displeasure of some of the Irons](https://readwestham.com/2020/12/09/west-ham-fans-unhappy-christian-eriksen-transfer-rumours/)faithful.

Despite the vitriol from some sections of Hammers supporters, a move for former Tottenham man Eriksen, who has[226 Premier League appearances](https://www.premierleague.com/players/4845/Christian-Eriksen/stats) behind him, would make perfect sense for everyone involved.

Still just 28 years old, the creative midfielder still has plenty left in the tank and has enjoyed a relatively[easy-going time of things](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/christian-eriksen/leistungsdaten/spieler/69633) whilst in Italy.

With 36 goals in his remarkable [103 Denmark caps](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/christian-eriksen/nationalmannschaft/spieler/69633/verein_id/3436), Eriksen has delivered on each and every stage and still[holds the record for chances created](https://sport360.com/article/football/english-premier-league/219537/stats-from-christian-eriksen-to-kevin-de-bruyne-players-who-created-most-chances-from-open-play-in-the-premier-league-since-the-start-of-2016)from his time with Spurs.

David Moyes would certainly benefit from some of that creative guile. Left-back and occasional centre-half Aaron Cresswell currently [leads the club’s assist charts](https://www.premierleague.com/stats/top/players/goal_assist), with Said Benrahma two behind[despite barely playing](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/said-benrahma/leistungsdaten/spieler/290532).

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

Both Declan Rice and Tomas Soucek offer plenty to Moyes’ side, however with [just one assist between them](https://www.whoscored.com/PlayerComparison) this term, creativity isn’t high on their list of strengths.

Adding Eriksen to the mix immediately gives the West Ham midfield a whole new dynamism.

Despite the detractors who potentially harbour a Spurs grudge or question the midfielder’s defensive qualities, signing a player of the[Dane’s ability](https://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/premier-league/christian-eriksen-tottenham-hotspur-profile-long-read-inside-footballing-brain-a8258471.html)on what looks to be a[relatively cheap deal](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-8992969/Inter-Milan-slap-27m-price-tag-Christian-Eriksen-just-year-signing-him.html)is an unmissable opportunity for the Irons.

Inter are reportedly ready to sell, the Hammers [need a new central midfielder](https://www.whufc.com/teams/first-team/squad) and Eriksen has Premier League pedigree, a desire to find regular football as well as a history in London – the perfect storm.
