# Reporter claims West Ham ‘very keen’ on Josh King January transfer

TalkSPORT reporter [Alex Crook](https://twitter.com/alex_crook)has claimed[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2020/12/30/west-ham-fans-pile-yet-more-praise-on-angelo-ogbonna/) remain ‘very keen’ on a move for AFC Bournemouth striker Josh King when appearing on the [station on Wednesday 30th December 12.30pm](https://talksport.com/radio/listen-again/1609322400/).

Crook, who spoke to Hammers boss David Moyes in the wake of the[0-0 draw with Southampton,](https://www.whufc.com/news/articles/2020/december/29-december/highlights-southampton-0-0-west-ham-united)explained how the club have been working on a deal for King for a number of weeks and could make their interest concrete in the January window.

Speaking to Moyes on the possibility of mid-season arrivals despite the ‘financial restraints’ [caused by the coronavirus pandemic](https://www.espn.co.uk/football/english-premier-league/story/4170092/football-must-face-up-to-stark-realities-of-financial-future-after-covid-19-crisis), the Scottish boss said: ”If we could bring in players like (Tomas) Soucek and (Jarrod) Bowen, then definitely.”

The aforementioned duo were both [January arrivals at the London Stadium](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/west-ham-united/transfers/verein/379) and have proven to be shrewd pieces of business by the club.

King, a Norweigan international, has[struggled to kickstart his Championship campaign](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/joshua-king/leistungsdaten/spieler/91059), albeit hampered by injury, an earlier[desire to find a move](https://www.bournemouthecho.co.uk/sport/18730586.jason-tindall-admits-cherries-wouldnt-stand-way-joshua-king-leaving-club-acceptable-price/), and a [positive COVID-19 test](https://www.afcb.co.uk/news/first-team/king-tests-positive-for-covid-19/) earlier in the season.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

West Ham were[widely linked with a move for King](https://talksport.com/football/771026/west-ham-talks-josh-king-agent-bid-bournemouth/)during the summer and with the need for a striker possibly greater now – expect Moyes to revisit this potential deal.

With [48 Premier Legaue goals](https://www.premierleague.com/players/3926/player/stats) to his name including a[one-season high of 16 back in 2016/17](https://www.premierleague.com/players/3926/player/overview), the 28-year-old provides a tried and test top-flight operator.

Capable of playing[across the frontline](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/joshua-king/leistungsdaten/spieler/91059/plus/0?saison=ges) and with[blistering pace](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2016/10/25/the-top-20-fastest-premier-league-players-revealed---can-you-gue/joshua-king/), King is the ideal candidate to come in and put pressure on both the[injury-hit Michail Antonio](https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/west-ham-michail-antonio-fitness-update-b558703.html) and the forever [inconsistent Sebastien Haller](https://www.sofascore.com/player/sebastien-haller/149731).
