# West Ham fans slam David Moyes over comments on Said Benrahma

There has been an air of mystery surrounding [Said Benrahma](https://readwestham.com/2020/12/24/said-benrahma-quiz-career-before-west-ham/)‘s [West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2020/12/29/danny-ings-training-images-potential-return-saints-hammers/) career ever since the day he arrived in October under a cloud of [controversy and rumour](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11685/12105590/david-moyes-said-benrahma-has-not-failed-his-west-ham-medical).

The Algerian winger was a [star of Brentford’s Championship campaign](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/said-benrahma/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/290532/plus/0?saison=2019&verein=&liga=&wettbewerb=&pos=&trainer_id=) last season and arrived at the Hammers with plenty of expectation, but things haven’t quite gone to plan.

Almost immediately after the 25-year-old moved to the London Stadium, manager David Moyes was playing down the immediate impact, [calling for ‘patience’](https://www.football.london/west-ham-united-fc/fixtures-results/every-word-david-moyes-said-19152723) from fans. The 57-year-old has been true to his word and has afforded Benrahma just [two starts in his seven](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/said-benrahma/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/290532/saison/2020/wettbewerb/GB1/verein/379) Premier League outings to date.

This week, with questions growing as to Moyes’ feelings towards Benrahma, the manager has [outlined the areas where the winger needs to improve](https://www.football.london/west-ham-united-fc/players/benrahma-moyes-west-ham-southampton-19528293) in order to start regularly, with ‘ball retention’ top of the list.

With unrest over [team selection](https://www.football.london/west-ham-united-fc/fixtures-results/confirmed-west-ham-team-vs-19501280) rife among some of the Irons faithful, there has been a swell of disapproval from plenty of supporters to Moyes’ latest rationale behind excluding his talented star, which one fan described as “garbage”.

Here’s a pick of the dissenting voices from West Ham fans on Twitter…

> Twitter: @ExWHUemployee He just doesn’t like his in game decisions that’s all. You’d be a fool to not rate Benrahma (@joelitt78828048)

> Twitter: @ExWHUemployee Just poor management really. You are allowed 1 luxury player playing in a cam position, Bruno Fernan… https://t.co/d42mrmYGnz (@Liam1986)

> Creative player gives ball away more than non creative player shocker. This is the sort of analysis that earns Moyes the big bucks. 😵🔫 [https://t.co/Eq2ZnIH3tq](https://t.co/Eq2ZnIH3tq)
