# West Ham Player Ratings: Chelsea (A)

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2020/12/21/west-ham-lead-transfer-race-for-reims-boulaye-dia/) were made to pay for their wastefulness in front of goal as the Hammers succumbed to a [3-0 defeat](https://www.sofascore.com/team/football/west-ham-united/37) to London rivals [Chelsea](https://readchelsea.com/2020/11/30/chelsea-fans-praise-mateo-kovacic-performance-spurs/) last night.

[David Moyes](https://readwestham.com/2020/12/18/west-ham-insider-names-three-potential-january-outgoings/)‘ side were punished from an early set piece which saw Thiago Silva afforded a free header before a quickfire Tammy Abraham brace late in the second half.

The Irons weren’t without their opportunities in what was a [relatively even game](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11661/12169574/chelsea-3-0-west-ham-thiago-silva-and-tammy-abraham-on-target-as-chelsea-grind-past-london-rivals-west-ham) for the most part, but a lack of clinical shooting from the front men saw Blues goalkeeper Edouard Mendy relatively untroubled.

This defeat at Stamford Bridge means West Ham will be [10th in the Premier League](https://www.premierleague.com/tables) on Christmas Day before their festive clash with Brighton & Hove Albion at the London Stadium on Sunday .

Midfield general [Declan Rice was as inspirational as ever](https://www.sofascore.com/team/football/west-ham-united/37), albeit without the captain’s armband as Mark Noble was [afforded a rare start](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/mark-noble/leistungsdaten/spieler/31835) this season.

Here’s how we rated the midfield duo and the rest of the Irons players from a disappointing night in west London…
