# West Ham fans call for Manuel Lanzini to start against Chelsea

[Manuel Lanzini](https://readwestham.com/2020/11/14/irons-fans-react-manuel-lanzini-goal-of-the-month/) has seen his role at [West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2020/12/18/west-ham-insider-names-three-potential-january-outgoings/) change dramatically this season as the Argentine struggles to break into [David Moyes](https://readwestham.com/2020/12/17/david-moyes-praises-vladimir-coufals-performance-in-palace-draw/)‘ starting lineup.

However, as the Hammers prepare for the visit of London rivals Chelsea on Monday night, plenty of the Irons faithful have implored the manager to give the 27-year-old a starting berth.

The attacking midfielder has made [six Premier League appearances (all as a substitute) this term](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/manuel-lanzini/leistungsdaten/spieler/135853), surmounting to just 106 minutes, during which limited time he managed to leave his mark on another London derby as his [last-minute thunderbolt earned a point](https://www.whufc.com/news/articles/2020/october/19-october/all-angles-manuel-lanzinis-stunner-tottenham) against Tottenham two months ago.

With [128 top-flight appearances](https://www.premierleague.com/players/13872/Manuel-Lanzini/stats) in his six-year stint in east London, the midfielder – who was [signed from Al Jazira](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11685/10214727/manuel-lanzini-to-permanently-sign-for-west-ham-on-four-year-deal) after back-to-back loan spells -has been a superb servant to the club.

Having seemingly [been on his way out the door](https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/west-ham-sell-manuel-lanzini-felipe-anderson-boost-transfer-pot-a4509371.html) at the London Stadium, these fans have called for Lanzini to start Monday night’s blockbuster at Stamford Bridge…

> Twitter: Yes I personally would give Lanzini a few games now. As the last few times coming on as a sub he has looked decent https://t.co/rAXeK5gvsD (@ExWHUemployee)

> Twitter: @ExWHUemployee Big fan of Formals but Lanzini would’ve put away at least half the chances he’s missed (@DDDAAA74)

> Twitter: @ExWHUemployee Has to start against Chelsea IMO (@WestHam\_Way)

> Twitter: @ExWHUemployee I also think Lansing would link up better with Benrahma as they have similar mindsets and could pull… https://t.co/80Xu3kogYA (@Chez394)

> Twitter: @ExWHUemployee Agreed. Fornals needs a break. (@Dave\_delbecq)

> Twitter: @mcgauley\_sean Not in so many words – but Lanzini was excellent. Should start against Chelsea instead of Berahma who was really poor. (@AMoCS)
