# Gary Lineker and Trevor Sinclair hail ‘sensational’ Sebastien Haller strike

[Legendary England goalscorer](https://www.goal.com/en-ie/lists/rooney-lineker-englands-all-time-leading-goalscorers/vrgu1tri7unu1sujovy6e8fm0#wreavchax5tr161qp37nue2zk) Gary Lineker took to [Twitter](https://twitter.com/GaryLineker/status/1339320453001863169) last night to praise [Sebastien Haller](https://readwestham.com/2020/12/14/david-cross-holds-out-hope-for-sebastien-haller/)‘s stunning equaliser for West Ham against Crystal Palace.

The ex-Leicester City, Everton, and England man hailed the [West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2020/12/16/west-ham-fans-debate-winston-reid-future-irons-return-mls/) striker’s bicycle kick as ‘sensational’ and a ‘hallelujah’ of a goal.

> Twitter: Sensational overhead kick from Sebastian Haller. A Hallelujah of a goal. See it on @BBCMOTD tonight. 10.45 (@GaryLineker)

Lineker wasn’t alone in his praise of the 26-year-old as Trevor Sinclair, the [aficionado of the overhead kick](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2017/01/25/trevor-sinclairs-overhead-kick-20-years-oral-history/) and [former Irons winger](https://www.soccerbase.com/players/player.sd?player_id=7318), joined the party to describe Haller’s effort as ‘beautiful’.

Haller, who at times looks [bereft of confidence](https://www.whufc.com/news/articles/2020/november/25-november/sebastien-haller-sundays-goal-will-build-my-confidence), will have been delighted to earn a point for West Ham, especially with such a stunning strike.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

If anyone at West Ham needed an overhead kick to ignite their season, it was the powerful Ivorian.

Despite his recent [match-winning goal at Sheffield United](https://www.whufc.com/news/articles/2020/november/23-november/all-angles-sebastien-hallers-sheffield-united-rocket#:~:text=Sebastien%20Haller's%20winning%20goal%20at,corner%20of%20Aaron%20Ramsdale's%20net.), Haller has struggled to find consistent form even with his [recent run of starts](https://footystats.org/players/france/sebastien-haller) in the [absence of Michail Antonio](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/michail-antonio/leistungsdaten/spieler/104124).

Let’s hope this is the moment when the [£45m man](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11685/11764986/west-ham-sign-sebastien-haller-for-club-record-deal-from-eintracht-frankfurt) finally arrived as a West Ham player, although there is always the chance we could be saying the same thing in the not-too-distant future if it turns out to be yet another false dawn.
