# Hulk willing to take pay cut as West Ham show interest

Brazilian striker Hulk, affectionately known as such for his startling resemblance to the muscle-bound Marvel character, is reportedly willing to take a huge pay cut in order to find a new club as [West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2020/12/16/tomas-soucek-endorses-abdallah-sima-slavia-prague/) are [linked with a move](https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/betting-tips/13416775/hulk-next-club-odds-west-ham-porto-transfer-news/).

The report from [Record](https://www.record.pt/futebol/futebol-nacional/liga-nos/fc-porto/detalhe/incrivel-na-alcunha-e-no-salario-hulk-prepara-regresso-apos-embolsar-100m-em-quatro-anos-e-meio?ref=HP_2BucketDestaquesPrincipais) claimed that the 34-year-old is ready to take a 90% reduction from his astonishing [£450,000 per week deal](https://salarysport.com/football/chinese-super-league/shanghai-sipg/) that he was earning during his time with Chinese club Shanghai SIPG.

Despite his advancing years, the former Porto and Zenit St Petersburg striker has enjoyed a successful time in China, with [130 goal contributions in 145 games](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/hulk/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/80562/verein/27190).

His availability on a free transfer has reportedly interested both the Hammers and Wolves, with both clubs in need of striking reinforcements for differing reasons.

The Midlands side are set to be [without powerful striker Raul Jimenez](https://www.teamtalk.com/news/silva-wolves-goalscoring-vow-raul-jimenez-absence) for a prolonged time, whilst [David Moyes](https://readwestham.com/2020/12/16/david-moyes-reveals-why-west-ham-failed-to-sign-eberechi-eze/) currently only has Sebastien Haller to call upon as an established centre-forward.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

Hulk is ndoubtedly a proven goalscorer in years gone by who has performed in the [UEFA Champions League](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/hulk/detaillierteleistungsdaten/spieler/80562).

However, after spending three years in China, it seems a monumental risk to take a chance on the Brazilian for his [first stint in the Premier League](https://www.transfermarkt.com/hulk/transfers/spieler/80562) at this stage in his career.

Moyes has been keen to move away from the culture of signing players who are somewhat long in the tooth and instead concentrate on [arrivals who are hungry and with things to prove](https://www.theguardian.com/football/2020/jan/28/david-moyes-west-ham-sign-younger-players) in the game.

Hulk may be a [serial trophy winner](https://www.transfermarkt.com/hulk/erfolge/spieler/80562) with [303 senior career goals](https://www.transfermarkt.com/hulk/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/80562), but he is very much in the ‘been there, done that’ category.
