# West Ham fans react to revelations about failed Eberechi Eze move

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2020/12/16/tomas-soucek-endorses-abdallah-sima-slavia-prague/) manager [David Moyes](https://readwestham.com/2020/12/16/david-moyes-reveals-why-west-ham-failed-to-sign-eberechi-eze/) has revealed the reasons why a proposed move to bring [Eberechi Eze](https://readwestham.com/2020/12/16/david-moyes-reveals-why-west-ham-failed-to-sign-eberechi-eze/) to the London Stadium failed to materialise.

The Hammers were [linked with a move for Eze](https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/championship/west-ham-eberechi-eze-transfer-qpr-a4506411.html) throughout the last transfer window but the former QPR attacker ended up joining tonight’s opponents Crystal Palace instead.

Moyes instead switched his attentions to Said Benrahma, who he eventually [landed on an initial season-long loan](https://www.whufc.com/news/articles/2020/october/16-october/west-ham-united-seal-said-benrahma-loan-deal) after much [trepidation and confusion](https://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/football/breaking-said-benrahma-fails-west-22856272) on the final day of the domestic transfer window two months ago.

As two of the [standout performers from the 2019/20 Championship](https://www.espn.com/soccer/stats/_/league/ENG.2/season/2019/english-league-championship) prepare to face off tonight, [Moyes confirmed](https://www.claretandhugh.info/moyes-why-we-didnt-sign-eze/) that the east London club ‘didn’t have the financial capabilities’ to sign the talented 22-year-old from QPR.

While Benrahma has [struggled to break into West Ham’s starting line-up](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/said-benrahma/leistungsdaten/spieler/290532), Eze has been [a regular at Selhurst Park](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/eberechi-eze/leistungsdaten/spieler/479999) since his move. However, the Algerian [has matched](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/said-benrahma/leistungsdaten/spieler/290532) the Eagles’ attacker’s tally of [two assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/eberechi-eze/leistungsdaten/spieler/479999), despite playing far fewer top-flight minutes this term.

Naturally, the Irons faithful have been reacting in their droves to a transfer which might’ve been, but many didn’t seem too despondent…
