# West Ham insider reveals David Moyes is ready to let Ryan Fredericks go

Reputable [West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2020/12/10/west-ham-could-take-money-for-declan-rice-in-january/) insider [ExWHUemployee](https://twitter.com/ExWHUemployee) has claimed that manager David Moyes will not fight to keep [Ryan Fredericks](https://readwestham.com/2020/12/09/west-ham-fans-dont-want-ryan-fredericks-sold/) amid transfer speculation over the right-back’s future.

The ex-Fulham man has been cast aside somewhat since the [summer arrival of Vladimir Coufal](https://www.theguardian.com/football/2020/oct/02/west-ham-sign-vladimir-coufal-from-slavia-prague-5m-transfer-news), leading to [rumours](https://www.footballinsider247.com/phillips-exclusive-28-year-old-may-quit-west-ham-next-year-jan-exit-possible/) that the 28-year-old won’t be around at the London Stadium for much longer. Indeed, [he last played](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ryan-fredericks/leistungsdaten/spieler/140191) back on the final weekend of September.

Speaking on the latest edition of the [West Ham Way podcast](https://www.patreon.com/thewesthamway/posts), Ex has revealed that Moyes will not fight to keep the full-back at the club in January. He said:

> It’s been put out that the manager may consider letting him (Fredericks) leave. He’s happy with Coufal and Ben Johnson. I don’t think the manager is going to fight to keep him, he’s on about £75k-a-week.

Fredericks arrived at the Irons with a burgeoning reputation in 2018 after [an outstanding Championship campaign](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ryan-fredericks/leistungsdaten/spieler/140191/plus/0?saison=2017) with Fulham.

Unfortunately for the [pacey full-back](https://www.premierleague.com/news/743699), a combination of [persistent injuries](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ryan-fredericks/verletzungen/spieler/140191) and [poor form](https://www.hammers.news/club-news/ryan-fredericks-hits-back-at-criticism-of-his-performance-for-west-ham-against-crystal-palace/) have meant that [things haven’t worked out](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ryan-fredericks/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/140191) as planned during his time in east London.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

Fredericks could well go down as one of those ‘what might have been’ transfers for the Hammers.

After [arriving on a free transfer](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/44376841) from Fulham, the London-born defender has [certainly had his moments](https://www.football.london/west-ham-united-fc/players/ryan-fredericks-west-ham-news-16228213) when it seemed he had truly arrived – only to be stopped in his tracks by another setback or a dramatic dip in form.

Were the club to receive reasonable offers in January, then it is perhaps time to cut ties and allow a clearer path to first team football for [one of their own in Ben Johnson](https://www.whufc.com/teams/first-team/squad/ben-johnson#Profile).
