# West Ham fans react to surprising insider revelation over Issa Diop

2020 has been full of curveballs and this week [West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2020/12/10/west-ham-fans-delighted-nathan-holland-comeback/) have delivered one of their own.

Reliable Hammers insider ExWHUemployee has [revealed](https://twitter.com/WHUFC_News/status/1337014371579531266) that central defender [Issa Diop](https://readwestham.com/2020/04/27/will-west-ham-sell-issa-diop-to-tottenham/) has been seen training as a striker as [David Moyes](https://readwestham.com/2020/12/10/david-moyes-confirms-michail-antonio-doubt-for-leeds/) explores alternative options.

> Andriy Yarmolenko played upfront when playing for the U-23s this week, as David Moyes sees him as a potential striker alternatives.
>
> It is even believed defender Issa Diop has spent some time in training playing upfront 🤣🤣🤣

With Michail Antonio [likely to miss](https://www.whufc.com/news/articles/2020/december/10-december/it-happened-david-moyes-pre-leeds-united-press-conference) the Irons’ trip to Leeds United on Friday with another injury, Moyes is left with only [Sebastien Haller as a recognised striker](https://www.whufc.com/teams/first-team/squad).

Ukrainian winger Andriy Yarmolenko was pushed into a central striking role at times during the [under-23s’ 3-0 defeat at Peterborough on Tuesday](https://www.sofascore.com/player/andriy-yarmolenko/41116) as he [continues his comeback](https://www.examinerlive.co.uk/sport/football/news/andriy-yarmolenko-west-ham-united-19283771) from a virus diagnosis.

Diop has [barely featured this term](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/issa-diop/leistungsdaten/spieler/272622) in his natural centre-back role as Fabian Balbuena, Angelo Ogbonna and Aaron Cresswell prove [difficult to dislodge](https://www.whufc.com/news/articles/2020/november/04-november/aaron-cresswell-im-loving-my-new-role-side).

His lack of game-time could be another reason behind why the 6’3 Frenchman sees his future further up the field – although his [five goals in 77 West Ham appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/issa-diop/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/272622) may say different.

Here are a pick of the fan reactions to the Diop revelation…

> He'd have a presence there for sure. But if Moyes makes a striker from a centre back than that man is a much better coach than what he gets credit for.
