# West Ham Target Jonathan Tah ‘Open’ To Premier League Move

Bayer Leverkusen centre-back and [rumoured](https://www.footballinsider247.com/exclusive-huge-update-on-west-ham-bid-to-sign-jonathan-tah/) West Ham transfer target [Jonathan Tah](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/west-ham-transfer-rumours/west-ham-united-hammers-interested-in-germany-defender-jonathan-tah/) has said he would be a good fit for the Premier League – a competition he believes to be the best league in the world.

The 24-year-old was also [linked](https://onefootball.com/en/news/fulham-arsenal-rival-leicester-for-bayer-leverkusen-defender-tah-31070637) with a move to fellow Premier League club’s Leicester City and Arsenal, with the [Hammers](https://readwestham.com/2020/12/08/west-ham-named-as-potential-suitors-for-christian-eriksen/) lining up the Germany international as [David Moyes sought out defensive reinforcements](https://www.football.london/west-ham-united-fc/transfer-news/west-ham-transfer-window-state-19031647).

In an interview with [Goal](https://www.goal.com/en/news/leicester-linked-tah-open-to-premier-league-move-as-he/bs631uxmnbgc1bkuuhtboz01q), Tah said: “The Premier League appeals to me, it has always been like that. I always had the feeling that my style of play would suit England well.”

With [10 appearances in all competitions](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jonathan-tah/leistungsdaten/spieler/196357) for Leverkusen this term, Tah remains an integral part of the Bundesliga outfit.

The [6 foot 3 centre-back](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jonathan-tah/profil/spieler/196357) was full of admiration for the English top flight, saying: “The physicality of the league and the need to think quickly are qualities that suit my game. Opinions differ as to which league is the best in the world – for me, it’s the Premier League.”

West Ham’s [tribulations in pursuit of a central defender](https://talksport.com/football/760981/james-tarkowski-west-ham-third-final-bid-burnley-rejected/) were well documented during the summer, ultimately [landing Craig Dawson on loan](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11685/12102754/craig-dawson-west-ham-sign-watford-defender-on-season-long-loan) from Watford for the season.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

The Hammers current defensive options have acquitted [themselves quite well](https://www.footballwebpages.co.uk/west-ham-united/form-guide) so far this season. Perhaps the [change in system](https://www.whufc.com/news/articles/2020/november/04-november/aaron-cresswell-im-loving-my-new-role-side) was enforced as Moyes was left disappointed in his attempts to add one of his top central defensive targets, among which Tah may have featured.

The Hammers are [widely expected](https://onefootball.com/en/news/report-west-ham-united-set-to-sign-silkeborg-if-defender-frederik-alves-ibsen-in-january-31883136) to land Danish youngster Frederik Alves when the January window opens, but a move for a player of the class of the [13-cap Germany defender](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jonathan-tah/nationalmannschaft/spieler/196357/verein_id/3262) would be quite a coup if they can beat off the competition for his signature.
