# Reported West Ham Target Jesse Lingard Offered Numerous Ways Out In January

[Jesse Lingard](https://readwestham.com/2020/11/12/west-ham-target-jesse-lingard-leaves-agent-raiola/), a rumoured summer transfer target for [West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2020/12/05/west-ham-predicted-xi-man-united-london-stadium/), could be offered multiple routes out of Manchester United in January, according to [TEAMtalk](https://www.teamtalk.com/news/exclusive-scottish-transfer-chance-jesse-lingard-makes-man-utd-decision-clear).

The Hammers were [heavily linked](https://talksport.com/football/728334/west-ham-david-moyes-jesse-lingard-phil-jones-manchester-united/) with a move for the attacking midfielder in the summer, with a potential [reunion with David Moyes](https://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/1306284/Man-Utd-transfer-news-David-Moyes-West-Ham-reunion-Jesse-Lingard-Phil-Jones) on the cards at the London Stadium.

However, no move materialised for the 27-year-old and the 2016 [FA Cup final hero](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/av/football/36351825) has [only featured in the Carabao Cup this season](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jesse-lingard/leistungsdaten/spieler/141660) for Ole Gunnar Solskjær’s side.

[TEAMtalk](https://www.teamtalk.com/news/exclusive-scottish-transfer-chance-jesse-lingard-makes-man-utd-decision-clear) suggested that, come January, Manchester United could seek out potential options for the midfielder to go on loan, with [La Liga high-fliers Real Sociedad](https://www.skysports.com/la-liga-table) in the mix for the England man.

Scottish giants Rangers and Celtic were [both credited with an interest](https://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/1368765/Manchester-United-transfer-news-Jesse-Lingard-Celtic-Rangers) whilst fellow Premier League clubs [Everton and West Brom](https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/man-united-transfer-jesse-lingard-18566441) were also believed to be looking at the possibility of a deal.

Lingard has [138 Premier League appearances](https://www.premierleague.com/players/4337/Jesse-Lingard/stats) to his name, with 18 goals and 10 assists in that time.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

Once an [automatic big-game selection](https://www.fourfourtwo.com/features/man-utd-liverpool-jesse-lingard-big-game-player-outcast) for Man United, Lingard is now barely seen on a matchday, with his [fall from grace](https://www.sportskeeda.com/football/top-10-players-favor-currently) being rather stark, and this is a deal which seems best avoided for West Ham.

Some may feel that there is [still a quality Premier League player](https://theathletic.co.uk/1719405/2020/04/04/jesse-lingard-manchester-united-no-10-transfer-raiola/) in the 27-year-old, who could thrive with a change of scenery. However, having recently watched a [gamble on Jack Wilshere backfire](https://www.whufc.com/news/articles/2020/october/05-october/jack-wilshere-departs), the Hammers would be best served to let another club take the risk on this one.
