# West Ham Fans Hail Angelo Ogbonna After Win over Aston Villa

Many [West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2020/12/02/martin-braithwaite-determined-to-remain-at-barcelona/) fans have heaped praise on defender[Angelo Ogbonna](https://readwestham.com/2020/12/01/angelo-ogbonna-hails-west-ham-winning-mentality/) following his performance in Monday night’s [2-1 victory over Aston Villa](https://www.whufc.com/news/articles/2020/december/01-december/extended-highlights-west-ham-united-2-1-aston-villa).

The 32-year-old opened the scoring for the Hammers just two minutes into the game as he rose highest from a corner to divert the ball to the net.

The Italian centre-back has been in [inspired form](https://www.footballcritic.com/angelo-ogbonna/profile/11159) for much of the season and has routinely appeared at the middle of a back three in David Moyes’ [new-look defensive formation](https://www.whufc.com/news/articles/2020/november/04-november/aaron-cresswell-im-loving-my-new-role-side).

West Ham have enjoyed a tremendous start to the 2020/21 season and Ogbonna has been very much at the [forefront](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/angelo-ogbonna/leistungsdaten/spieler/48002) of the transformation – a change he puts down to a[‘winning mentality’](https://www.whufc.com/news/articles/2020/december/01-december/angelo-ogbonna-our-winning-mentality-got-us-three-points).

The Italian [arrived in east London](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/33486122) from Juventus five years ago and has since made [169 appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/angelo-ogbonna/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/48002) for the club. The 32-year-old, who has 13 senior caps for Italy, was narrowly voted as the Irons Man of the Match on the club’s official [Twitter channel](https://twitter.com/WestHam/status/1333545585174073353) and these fans were fulsome in their praise of the “Italian stallion”…
