# Rumoured West Ham Target Ahmed Musa Wants Premier League Move

Reported as a target for [West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2020/11/27/west-ham-keeping-tabs-on-adam-armstrong/) earlier this month, [Ahmed Musa](https://readwestham.com/2020/11/19/west-ham-offered-ahmed-musa-free-agent/) has declared his desire for a return to one of Europe’s elite leagues.

Following a [TEAMtalk](https://www.teamtalk.com/news/exclusive-newcastle-west-ham-among-clubs-offered-ahmed-musa) report linking the Nigerian striker with a host of top-flight clubs, including the Hammers, Musa has told [BBC Sport](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/africa/55072863) he is looking to continue his career at the ‘top level’.

Having been [linked with a move to Championship side Sheffield Wednesday](https://www.footballinsider247.com/exclusive-sheffield-wednesday-line-up-swoop-for-28-yr-old-leicester-city-signed-for-18m-in-16/), the 28-year-old – who spent two seasons at Leicester City – has shunned the idea of a switch to Hillsborough, saying: “I don’t know where the story (potential move to Sheffield) is coming from because I don’t pay attention to rumours and gossip.”

After [leaving Leicester in 2018](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ahmed-musa/transfers/spieler/168337), Musa spent two years plying his trade in Saudi Arabia for Al-Nassr.

However, the [87-cap Nigeria](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ahmed-musa/nationalmannschaft/spieler/168337/verein_id/3444) international wants a return to the elite, as he remarked: “With due respect to the club (Sheffield Wednesday), I left Saudi Arabia to continue my career at the top level in Europe and that’s the ambition.”

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

Although Musa is available on a free following his [departure from Al-Nassr](https://www.aa.com.tr/en/sports/football-nigerian-winger-ahmed-musa-leaves-al-nassr/2019893) and despite the [need for additional strikers](https://www.whufc.com/teams/first-team/squad) at London Stadium, it remains an unlikely move for the Irons to make.

The pacey striker endured a difficult time in England with Leicester after his [£16m move from CSKA Moscow](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/36747438). His[two goals in 21 appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ahmed-musa/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/168337/saison/2016/wettbewerb/GB1/verein/1003) during his time in the Midlands perhaps enough of a sample size to put off managers across the Premier League, including Moyes.

West Ham would be wise to look beyond the Nigerian amid an [extensive list](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/54476714) of striking targets.
