# Boost For West Ham as Ross Barkley to Miss Aston Villa’s London Stadium Visit

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2020/11/24/agbonlahor-praises-sebastien-haller-hunger/) have been handed an early boost as they prepare to face Aston Villa on Monday night in the Premier League at London Stadium.

A report from the [Express & Star](https://www.expressandstar.com/sport/football/aston-villa/2020/11/23/ross-barkley-expected-to-miss-at-least-two-aston-villa-fixtures-with-hamstring-injury/) has revealed that on-loan Chelsea midfielder [Ross Barkley](https://readastonvilla.com/2020/11/11/agbonlahor-praise-ross-barkley-impact-villa/) is expected to miss the game after [coming off with a hamstring injury](https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/breaking-barkley-injury-villa-chelsea-19322310) against Brighton last weekend.

Barkley has been in inspired form since completing his switch to the Midlands on a season-long loan deal. The 26-year-old has contributed [directly to two goals](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ross-barkley/leistungsdaten/spieler/131978) in the league as well as playing a pivotal part in the [Villlans’ shock demolition of Liverpool](https://www.skysports.com/football/a-villa-vs-liverpool/428868) earlier in the season.

Hammers boss David Moyes knows all too well the threat Barkley would have posed, having [managed the Liverpool-born midfielder](https://www.theguardian.com/football/2013/apr/19/everton-david-moyes-ross-barkley) during their mutual time at Everton.

In contrast to that injury blow for Villa, Moyes is [almost certain to welcome back a fit-again Michail Antonio](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-8880999/West-Ham-sweating-star-man-Antonios-fitness-went-second-game-row.html) to his squad. Andriy Yarmolenko could also be available once more as he recovers from a positive Covid diagnosis.

Villa have been one of the [surprise packages](https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/matty-cash-aston-villa-transfer-18871837) so far this season, peaking with that 7-2 romp over Liverpool in early October.

News of Barkley’s absence will undoubtedly be music to the ears of Moyes and West Ham, despite their previous positive relationship having seen the [Irons linked with a move for the 26-year-old](https://www.90min.com/posts/david-moyes-still-keen-to-reunite-with-ross-barkley-at-west-ham) on numerous occasions.
