# Reported West Ham Target Sami Khedira Keen To Seek Pastures New

Juventus midfielder and 2014 World Cup winner Sami Khedira was sensationally linked with a move to West Ham in April by [Calciomercato](https://www.calciomercato.com/news/juve-khedira-in-premier-per-amore-questa-volta-la-cessione-e-pos-68740).

Ultimately, the 33-year-old stayed in Italy throughout the summer but has since found himself very much on the fringes of matters at the Allianz Arena and is [yet to appear in any competition](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/sami-khedira/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/29401) this season.

Newly-appointed coach Andrea Pirlo hasn’t seen fit to turn to his experienced midfielder at all this term despite him [recovering from an adductor injury](https://www.football-italia.net/154665/alex-sandro-and-khedira-injury-updates), leading to plenty of speculation over where the German’s future lies.

Therefore, reputable German publication [Bild](https://www.bild.de/sport/fussball/fussball-international/sami-khedira-denkt-an-winter-wechsel-73993378.bild.html) have today claimed Khedira has become desperate to leave the Old Lady in January when the transfer window reopens.

The report suggests the [decorated midfielder](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/sami-khedira/erfolge/spieler/29401) will look to remain in Europe, shying away from a potential move to what is often perceived as the [ageing footballer’s final playing destination](https://www.theguardian.com/football/these-football-times/2015/jul/30/david-beckham-mls-ageing-footballers-drogna-lampard-gerrard), the MLS.

Khedira is another of the stars on a substantial wage at Juventus, [reportedly earning £130,000 per week](https://sillyseason.com/money/salary/juventus-players-salaries-69069/), a figure which, if upheld, would likely lead to the Hammers turning their backs on a potential move.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

Just a few seasons ago this is a link which may have excited Irons fans no end. However, at 33 and with his best days behind him, the chance for Khedira to get his [first taste of the fast-paced Premier League](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/sami-khedira/transfers/spieler/29401) may have come and gone.

David Moyes has been making a [considered effort to freshen up his Hammers squad](https://www.theguardian.com/football/2020/jan/28/david-moyes-west-ham-sign-younger-players) with younger players.

Despite the need for central midfield reinforcements in the squad, a 33-year-old who has [suffered from injuries](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/sami-khedira/verletzungen/spieler/29401) and [hasn’t played competitive football for almost 12 months](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/spielbericht/index/spielbericht/3252225) isn’t the way to go.
