# West Ham Linked With Double Real Madrid Striker Swoop

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2020/11/17/west-ham-morning-news-round-up-17th-november-2020/) have been sensationally credited with an interest in signing Real Madrid striking duo Mariano Diaz and [Luka Jovic](https://readwestham.com/2020/11/05/west-ham-luka-jovic-rumours-true-ex-whu-employee/) in January.

The report comes from Spanish outlet [DefensaCentral](https://www.defensacentral.com/real_madrid/1605460711-exclusiva-dc-el-west-ham-al-rescate-del-madrid-en-el-mercado-invernal-quieren-a-jovic-o-a-mariano)and claims the pair have ‘no chances at Real Madrid’ and have been ‘totally abandoned by Zinedine Zidane who doesn’t trust them’.

Between them, [Diaz](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/mariano-diaz/leistungsdaten/spieler/225020) and [Jovic](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/luka-jovic/leistungsdaten/spieler/257462) have only made six appearances across all competitions this season, leading to speculation over their futures in the Spanish capital.

This isn’t the first time the Hammers have been [linked with a move for Jovic](https://www.90min.com/posts/newcastle-west-ham-lead-way-on-real-madrid-misfit-luka-jovic-with-arsenal-also-keen-01e7afawctem), a player for whom [Real Madrid paid £52.4m](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/12691/11734671/real-madrid-sign-luka-jovic-from-eintracht-frankfurt) only last year. However, it now seems [the Serbian wants to find a way out](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/luka-jovic-tells-man-utd-22767193) given his lack of match opportunities at the Bernabeu.

Diaz is a 27-year-old Dominican Republic international striker who has a value of £10.8m according to [Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/mariano-diaz/profil/spieler/225020), whilst Jovic is [valued at £22.5m](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/luka-jovic/leistungsdaten/spieler/257462) and may only be available on a loan move in January.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

It’s highly plausible that David Moyes would be seeking a [new striker for his squad](https://www.whufc.com/teams/first-team/squad) at the next possible juncture with Michail Antonio and Sebastien Haller currently his [only senior centre-forward options](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/west-ham-united/kadernachposition/verein/379).

The [Hammers’ leading scorer](https://www.premierleague.com/clubs/25/West-Ham-United/stats?se=363) Antonio has been out [injured recently](https://talksport.com/football/781480/west-ham-injury-blow-michail-antonio-hamstring-injury-liverpool/), leaving only Haller available to Moyes, highlighting the lack of depth in the centre-forward department.

Despite Jovic’s time at the Bernabeu not turning out as hoped, the Serbian, who [played alongside Haller](https://www.bundesliga.com/en/news/Bundesliga/jovic-haller-better-than-ronaldo-mandzukic-best-european-strike-partnership-517488.jsp) during their time together at Eintracht Frankfurt, has a [proven track record of scoring goals](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/luka-jovic/leistungsdaten/spieler/257462/plus/0?saison=ges) and would be a no-brainer target if he becomes available.
