# David Moyes Reveals Frustration At Losing Out To Leicester City For Wesley Fofana

[Football Insider](https://www.footballinsider247.com/revealed-moyes-in-agony-over-west-ham-defender-deal/) have revealed that West Ham manager David Moyes was left frustrated when Leicester City beat them to the summer signing of centre-back [Wesley Fofana](https://readleicester.com/2020/11/10/moyes-left-frustrated-that-leicester-beat-west-ham-to-fofana-signing/).

The Hammers were believed to be a [mainstay in the race](https://www.france24.com/en/20200925-chase-for-saint-etienne-s-fofana-confirms-premier-league-s-love-for-french-talent) to land the 19-year-old from Saint-Ettienne during the summer transfer window before ultimately losing out to Brendan Rodgers’ side, who [clinched a deal for the teenager](https://www.lcfc.com/news/1850230/wesley-fofana-signs-for-leicester-city-from-sainttienne/press-release).

[Football Insider](https://www.footballinsider247.com/revealed-moyes-in-agony-over-west-ham-defender-deal/) claimed that Moyes has been impressed by Fofana since he arrived in the Premier League – and rightly so as, despite his fledgling years, Fofana has [taken to life in England exceptionally](https://www.leicestermercury.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/colossal--what-surprised-brendan-4682133).

His role at the heart of the Foxes’ defence has helped them to [top of the table](https://www.premierleague.com/tables) going into the international break; and whilst Moyes’ side have also made a solid start, the Scot may be left dreaming of what might have been.

Failing to land Fofana and [James Tarkowski earlier in the window](https://talksport.com/football/760981/james-tarkowski-west-ham-third-final-bid-burnley-rejected/) lead to Moyes scrambling around in the final throws of the widow somewhat before ultimately signing [Craig Dawson on a season-long loan](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11685/12102754/craig-dawson-west-ham-sign-watford-defender-on-season-long-loan) from Watford.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

Given the [impressive start Fofana has made](https://www.premierleague.com/players/66284/Wesley-Fofana/stats) for Leicester, it’s easy to understand why Moyes may be left more than a little frustrated, especially given his own failings in bringing in a permanent option at centre-back.

However, the Irons may be on the verge of landing another young defender, with the deal to sign[Frederik Alves](https://readwestham.com/2020/11/09/west-ham-torino-frederik-alves-transfer-latest/) edging closer towards completion, albeit with [some complications](https://www.90min.com/posts/torino-could-hijack-west-ham-move-for-young-defender-frederik-alves-transfer).

Although the Denmark-based youngster may come from a [slightly different standard than Ligue 1](https://www.visualevolution.co.uk/european-football-league-comparisons/), what’s done is done and Moyes may be best served to let missed opportunities be forgotten, no matter how great they may seem.
