Former West Ham midfielder Jack Wilshere who left the London Stadium after mutually terminating his contract at the start of the month has spoken out about his time at the club and his next move.
The 28-year-old, who made just 19 appearances as a Hammer after joining on a free-transfer in 2018, struggled for fitness and with multiple injuries during his time in East London.
Now, weeks after his departure and without a new club, the former England man has spoken to Sky Sports about his most recent tribulations: “I was probably getting to that point, if I had stayed another year, where it would have been really tough mentally to come back from.”
After reaching fitness Wilshere continued to be left out of Irons boss David Moyes’ plans, and the midfielder who as once described as the ‘best English talent since Paul Gascoigne’, spoke about his relationship with the manager: “I never had a fall out with him, I was thankful to him for being honest with me. I’ve got a lot of friends at West Ham and it was nothing personal against them. I still speak to a lot of the players, but I just had to get out.”
On finding a new club, Wilshire said: “I’ve been speaking to my agent every couple of days.”

Injuries have blighted the career of Wilshere for too long now, and whilst the club knew the risks when giving the one time England star a three-year contract, they were left with a conundrum when it became clear Moyes saw no future in the unreliable midfielder at the club.
Thankfully the matter was resolved mutually and a situation like the one across London with Mesut Ozil and Arsenal hasn’t occured, now alls that’s left is for Wilshere to find a new club and perhaps start playing football once more.
Also nice to hear no animosity is held between him and the club, as in truth there is no need, it’s simply a deal that didn’t work out for either party.
