# Carlton Cole Says David Moyes Deserves New Deal

Former Hammers striker Carlton Cole has said manager David Moyes should be given a new contract after [reports emerged](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2020/10/26/west-ham-players-want-david-moyes-given-long-term-contract/) the current West Ham squad want the Scottish boss to be given a new deal.

Since lockdown the Irons form has enjoyed an upturn in fortunes and having avoided [relegation last term](https://www.skysports.com/premier-league-table/2019), Moyes’ men have made a [promising start](https://www.whufc.com/fixtures/first-team/fixtures-and-results) to 2020/21.

Appearing on TalkSPORT breakfast on Wednesday morning (28/10/20, 9:35 am), when asked whether Moyes should be in line for a new deal, Cole said: ”Yeah, why not? Where else would we get a manager of that quality, since restart he has done brilliantly.”

The striker went on to say: ”Moyesy has pulled it back and the players are playing with confidence, they are buying into the philosophy.”

The 37-year-old clearly believes in where the Scotsman is taking the club, as do the players.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

After[parting ways with Moyes](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/44140002) once before, perhaps prematurely, the Irons would be wise to tie the former Everton and Manchester United boss down to a new contract before too long, especially if the players believe him to be worthy.

There is no doubt the club have made a[strong start to the new campaign](https://www.premierleague.com/tables)and perhaps the time is right to reward the manager with a new deal and with it secure the long-term vision for the side, and afford Moyes greater confidence in where he can take the squad.
