West Ham are interested in signing Chelsea’s German centre-back Antonio Rudiger this summer, according to a report from the Daily Mail.
As Hammers boss David Moyes goes in search of a central defender, Rudiger has emerged as an option.
The German international is believed to have Frank Lampard’s blessing to leave Stamford Bridge this summer after he slipped down the Blues’ pecking order following the arrival of Brazilian Thiago Silva.

Rudiger is exactly the kind of defender that West Ham need within their ranks; a no-nonsense operator with plenty of top-level – and importantly -Premier League experience.
As a deal to sign James Tarkowski fades away, the 27-year-old German could make for a worthy alternative.
The report does touch on the Hammers officials’ reluctance to deal with Chelsea amid their continued interest in Declan Rice but if Rudiger is available, then they could well make a move.
Chelsea have been credited with a major interest in the London Stadium star man and any negotiations over Rudiger could spark the fellow Londoners into an approach for the England defensive midfielder, something that nobody connected to West Ham will want.
