West Ham increase bid for James Tarkowski

West Ham have increased their bid for Burnley’s James Tarkowski to £27 million, according to The Athletic.

The second offer from the Hammers for the centre-half is believed to be comprised of £22 million upfront, potentially rising to £27 million with various performance-related add-ons.

David Moyes is in the market for a central defender and Tarkowski would be a very welcome addition to his squad at the London Stadium.

The increased bid comes following the completion of the controversial deal to take Grady Diangana from the Hammers to West Brom, a move which could eventually see the East Londoners receive £18 million for the young winger.

Tarkowski has been a regular consistent performer in the Premier League and the 27-year-old twice-capped England international is rumoured to have a £50 million release clause built into his contract at Turf Moor.

Burnley will be in no rush to sell with Tarkowski having two years left to run on his deal.

With all that in mind, it seems unlikely the Lancashire club would be willing to part ways with one of their most important players on the cheap.

It may take yet another increased offer to persuade Burnley to accept and for Moyes to land his top target.
