West Ham looking to offload Jack Wilshere

West Ham’s Jack Wilshere looks like he could be on his way out of the club with the Hammers desperate to offload the midfielder this summer, according to the Times.

The club are even said to be willing to contribute to the player’s wages at his new club if it allows them to move the former England international on.

Having signed Wilshere in 2018 at the end of his Arsenal contract, the Hammers hoped they could help restore the former England man’s best form, however, it seems they have given up hope on that and as such, they are keen to trim his £100,000 per-week wages off the books.

The Hammers have even considered the possibility of buying out the final year of Wilshere’s contract, allowing him to seek another club as a free agent.

Following his most recent injury setback, Wilshere returned to fitness for the final nine matches of the 2019/20 campaign, although he only played 35 minutes of football across these matches.

Wilshere is currently with the rest of the Hammers squad in Scotland as David Moyes prepares his squad for the upcoming season.

With 34 England caps to his name and having once been held in extremely high regard in many ways, it is a shame to see how bad things have got for the 28-year-old who should now be entering the prime of his career.

Instead, he finds himself being auctioned off to the highest bidder with his current employers happy to pay some of his salary to see him go.

When Wilshere was signed, the major worry was never to do with his on-field ability, but more about his ability to get on the field in the first place.

Paying such an extravagant salary to a player with Wilshere’s injury record was always a huge risk and it’s bitten West Ham severely.

Paying a player to play games at another club is hardly a positive but that looks like the only option West Ham now have as they look to trim the wage bill.
