West Ham look to set to get involved in a bidding war for talented Bournemouth attacking midfielder David Brooks, according to Wales Online.

The recently relegated Cherries feel they can get as much as £40m for the Welsh international, who they paid £11.5m for when they signed him from Sheffield United in 2018.

Following his current club’s relegation to the Championship, interest in Brooks has been heightened, with Tottenham, Newcastle United, Leicester, and Crystal Palace all keen on the 23-year-old.

Despite missing the majority of last season through injury, Brooks’ stock is seemingly still high following his return to fitness during ‘Project Restart’.

The Welshman’s first season in the top flight saw him score seven times and make five assists and it looks like this form has attracted the attention of several clubs.

Newly promoted Leeds United are also said to be monitoring the situation regarding Brooks.

As well as his club exploits, the youngster has impressed for his nation during his 12 appearances and his direct running and his eye for a killer pass make him a desirable prospect, one which Hammers boss David Moyes looks set to try and obtain.

However, at a £40 million asking price, Brooks could be out of reach for many of the clubs touted to be interested in his signature. That fee, for a player who spent much of the recent history out through injury and currently plays his trade for a relegated club, could see him priced out of a move.

With Moyes clearly keen on bolstering his attacking options, Brooks’ previous best form would no doubt be beneficial to the squad at the London Stadium. The Welshman is of Premier League quality and should the Hammers not stump up the cash, another of their top-flight rivals might.
