Manchester United have entered the race to sign West Ham midfielder Declan Rice, after rekindling their interest in the 21-year-old, according to Football Insider.

Chelsea have been strongly linked with Rice over the past few months, but United are now set to go head-to-head with the London outfit to capture his signature.

The England international is seemingly a man in demand, with his versatility of playing in either midfield or in defence being one of his main attractions to the interested parties.

Rice has been an ever-present for The Hammers this term and David Moyes will do everything he can to keep hold of his most valuable asset, no matter what division they’re in next season.

Frank Lampard is said to be interested in utilising Rice as a centre-back for his Chelsea side, which does make sense given their current crop of midfield options.

The Red Devils’ midfield has drastically improved in recent months, with Fred and Scott McTominay, in particular, showing significant improvements, so their rekindled interest in Rice does seem somewhat surprising.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer seemed to have cooled his interest in the defensive midfielder, but Sir Alex Ferguson is said to be a big fan, which may have influenced United’s decision to rejoin the race.

Interest from both of these clubs could see a bidding war ensue, which if West Ham were to sell, could see a substantial sum come into the club.
