# Hammers fans split over whether they want the club to sign Gotze

According to Bayern Munich legend Michael Rummenigge, Mario Gotze should consider joining a club like West Ham United this summer ([Evening Standard](https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/mario-gotze-west-ham-transfer-michael-rummenigge-a4400741.html)), but the club’s fans are split on whether they want him or not.

The 27-year-old has had many niggling [injury and fitness issues](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/mario-gotze/verletzungen/spieler/74842) in recent years, which has seen his form and playing time drop massively.

The German international is [struggling](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/mario-gotze/leistungsdaten/spieler/74842) to hold down a starting role for the club this season, with youngsters like Jadon Sancho and Julian Brandt above him in the pecking order.

Gotze, who scored the famous World Cup-winning goal against Argentina in 2014, has only played 501 minutes in the Bundesliga this season ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/mario-gotze/leistungsdaten/spieler/74842)).

Gotze earns €191,731 per week at Dortmund ([Capology](https://www.capology.com/club/borussia-dortmund/salaries/)) but his current deal with the club [expires](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/mario-gotze/profil/spieler/74842) at the end of June, meaning he will be available to sign for free during the summer transfer window if he is not handed a contract extension.

Some Hammers fans on [Twitter](https://twitter.com/whufc_news/status/1244206294988447747) want the club to sign him, whilst others aren’t so keen.
