# Hammers fans react to Rice’s reported price tag

According to [Claret and Hugh](https://www.claretandhugh.info/exclusive-irons-place-new-price-tag-on-declans-head/), West Ham United have placed an £80m price tag on Declan Rice and some Hammers fans have provided their reactions on social media.

As reported on[Sky Sports](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11668/11962456/chelsea-interested-in-signing-declan-rice-from-west-ham) earlier this week, fellow Premier League side, and London rivals Chelsea, are interested in signing the defensive midfielder.

Rice, who was [released from the Chelsea academy](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/declan-rice-released-chelsea-14-13298180) as a schoolboy, has played [every single minute](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/declan-rice/leistungsdaten/spieler/357662) of West Ham’s Premier League season so far.

Rice has come a long way since then, cementing a first-team spot at West Ham and making his [England debut.](https://www.whufc.com/news/articles/2019/march/22-march/pictures-declan-rice-makes-england-debut)

The midfielder recently[signed a long-term contract](https://www.whufc.com/news/articles/2018/december/28-december/west-ham-united-sign-declan-rice-new-long-term-contract) with the Hammers, keeping him at the club until the summer of 2024.

Rice has also recently outlined his [desire to become the club’s captain](https://www.whufc.com/news/articles/2020/march/11-march/declan-rice-one-day-id-love-be-west-ham-united-captain) one day, but with other sides interested in his signature, that could only just be a dream.

These Hammers fans [on Twitter](https://twitter.com/UberWestHam/status/1243570227805327360)have reacted to the report, with many feeling he’s worth more.
