West Ham fans react to drawing Wimbledon in FIFA tournament

West Ham United have been drawn against AFC Wimbledon in the FIFA tournament created and hosted by Leyton Orient and many Hammers fans have reacted negatively to the news.

The draw for the FIFA competition, which took place on Tuesday evening, saw the two sides match each other in the 17th tie, with the Hammers coming out as the away side.

With all elite football suspended until early April (BBC Sport), many clubs have signed up to play in the FIFA competition as a way to entertain their fans whilst real-life matches are off.

Teams from all over the world are involved, such as Italy’s AS Roma, Russia’s Lokomotiv Moscow, Danish side FC Midtjylland and Australia’s Melbourne Victory.

The last time the two sides met was in January 2019, with Wimbledon emerging as 4-2 victors in the FA Cup fourth round, with then-manager Manuel Pellegrini terming the loss as a disaster (BBC Sport).

These Hammers fans on Twitter are fearing a repeat of that result in their virtual clash.
