# West Ham should give up Sanson pursuit

West Ham United are still said to be interested in signing Morgan Sanson ([Sport Witness, citing France Football](https://sportwitness.co.uk/west-ham-still-midfielder-just-like-crystal-palace-pl-clubs-expected-pay-e30m/)) but we believe the Hammers should give up their pursuit of the midfielder.

During the January transfer window, the Hammers were [heavily linked](https://readwestham.com/2020/01/08/west-ham-make-firm-offer-for-morgan-sanson/) with a move for the Frenchman. However, the London club’s offer for his services was [turned down](https://readwestham.com/2020/03/13/west-ham-had-e30m-bid-for-morgan-sanson-rejected-in-january/) by Ligue 1 side Marseille.

Sanson is enjoying a stellar campaign at the moment, scoring five and assisting five in the French top-flight, helping Marseille to second place in the table ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/morgan-sanson/leistungsdaten/spieler/174094)).

We feel it’s time for the Hammers to look elsewhere because it is clear that Sanson isn’t keen on a move to West Ham.

The midfielder revealed in February that he laughed when he heard about rumours linking him to the Premier League side ([talkSPORT](https://talksport.com/football/667569/marseille-midfielder-morgan-sanson-transfer-target-west-ham/)).

This goes some way to proving that he isn’t even considering a move to the London Stadium, so why are the club wasting their time and resources on him?

According to[the report](https://sportwitness.co.uk/west-ham-still-midfielder-just-like-crystal-palace-pl-clubs-expected-pay-e30m/), the Hammers have also sent scouts to watch the midfielder in action this season.

Marseille are understood to want around €40m for Sanson ([Le10 Sport](https://le10sport.com/football/mercato/mercato-om-paul-aldridge-pour-vendre-des-joueurs-le-club-495625)) and we feel there are much cheaper alternatives out there who may actually want to represent the Hammers, such as Tomas Soucek, so maybe it’s time for West Ham to drop their interest in the 25-year-old and look for other midfield targets.
