West Ham need to try and offload Cresswell this summer

Aaron Cresswell has been a regular for West Ham United this season but we feel it is time for the club to look for a replacement.

The 30-year-old has played every Premier League minute in 2020 for the Hammers but is yet to register an assist in all competitions this season (Transfermarkt).

We believe that he should either be dropped to the bench or sold this summer because he is not having the desired impact on the team.

Cresswell has the joint second-worst cross accuracy in the top-flight with 19.7%.

This goes some way to proving that the full-back’s impact from the flank is reducing, with many of his crosses not reaching its intended target.

However, his defensive side of the game also seems to be deteriorating.

As stated on the official Premier League website, the full-back only has a 61% tackle success rate and has only helped the team to four clean sheets in the league this season.

Furthermore, the defender, who is apparently earning £50,000 a week with the Hammers, currently isn’t too popular amongst some memebers of the West Ham fan base.

Some fans agree that he should be replaced this summer and with the Englishman now in his early 30s, it’s unlikely that he will get better.

Using a younger option at left-back, much like Jeremy Ngakia at right-back, who has been a remarkable success so far in the first-team, could be a risk worth taking for the Hammers.
