# Hammers fans shocked as the club target Phil Jones

West Ham United are[reportedly interested](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/newcastle-offer-phil-jones-premier-21693802) in signing Manchester United defender Phil Jones and many Hammers fans can’t believe it.

As reported on [The Mirror](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/newcastle-offer-phil-jones-premier-21693802), West Ham and Newcastle are keeping an eye on his situation as the Red Devils look to offload the centre-back for around £12m this summer.

Jones has rarely featured for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side this season, making just eight appearances in all competitions ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/phil-jones/leistungsdaten/spieler/117996)).

The defender is struggling to find a way back into the United squad and is firmly behind fellow defender Harry Maguire, Victor Lindelof and Eric Bailly at the moment.

The Englishman [wants to be playing](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/newcastle-offer-phil-jones-premier-21693802) first-team football more regularly and the Hammers are said to be interested in providing that for him, which has shocked many of the club’s fans.

Some West Ham fans have [taken to Twitter](https://twitter.com/HammersDotNews/status/1239481850881507338) to show their shock and discontent at the latest transfer link to Jones and it’s clear that they are disappointed with the news.
