Arsenal are interested in signing West Ham United defender Issa Diop this summer, according to a report on The Mirror.
As stated in the report, Gunners manager Mikel Arteta wants to strengthen his defensive unit for next season and has identified Diop as a potential target.
The Frenchman has been a key member of the West Ham squad ever since he made the switch to London in 2018 from French Ligue 1 side Toulouse (BBC Sport).
READ WEST HAM VERDICT
Diop is a player who gives his all on the pitch, proven by the fact that he has been cautioned nine times in all competitions this term (Transfermarkt).
He’s one of the most important players in the current Hammers squad, with the team losing four of the six league encounters that he has not featured in this season.
The Hammers made it clear last summer that Diop was not for sale and they could be set for another battle to keep hold of him this summer.
He’s currently valued at £31.5m by transfermarkt but we believe it could take a lot more than that to convince West Ham to offload him because he still has three years remaining on his current contract and remains a crucial member of the Hammers squad.
