West Ham insider expresses concerns about Haller

West Ham United insider ExWHUemployee has questioned the desire of striker Sebastien Haller after his display against Arsenal.

The striker missed some great chances to score at the Emirates Stadium and Ex believes that he doesn’t have much of a physical presence despite being 6ft 2in.

When speaking on The West Ham Way podcast (11/03/2020, 9:20-9:37), he said:

That ball came in the box and he was completely bossed out of it by the defenders.

He’s a big lad and he’s got the potential size-wise to have the presence.

I just don’t know if he has the desire or the attitude to do it and that’s what frustrates me.

Haller has won 206 aerial battles in the Premier League this season, the most in the competition.

Judging by that statistic, it seems that Haller does have some sort of physical presence up front for the Hammers, however, he still hasn’t scored a headed goal this term, which could suggest that he is not really using his physical strength in the correct manner.

As a centre-forward, he needs to be using his strengths inside the opposition box and that’s what seems to be missing from his game at the moment.

He’s a player who doesn’t show much emotion and that could be why Ex is slightly concerned about his attitude and desire.

One thing is certain, Haller needs to start causing problems for defenders in the box by showing the hunger and desire to score goals or else the Hammers could be at severe risk of being relegated to the Championship.
