Felipe Anderson has recently lost his place in West Ham United’s starting XI and we believe it could be time for him to get that spot back.
Summer arrival Pablo Fornals has recently been getting the nod from manager David Moyes after scoring against Liverpool at Anfield, leaving Anderson with only a place on the bench.
The Brazilian winger played just one minute of the team’s 3-1 victory over Southampton, before featuring for three minutes during the 1-0 defeat to Arsenal last weekend (Transfermarkt)
We feel it’s time to recall him.
Anderson is a winger so offers a lot more width than Fornals, who is traditionally an attacking midfielder, but has been operated on the left side of midfield.
With Wolves’ wingbacks pushing very high up the pitch, there could be space in wide areas for West Ham and Anderson to exploit.
The former Lazio man could also help to bring the best out of Sebastien Haller because of his crossing ability.
During the 4-0 victory over AFC Bournemouth on New Year’s Day, Anderson completed three dribbles and crossed the ball twice in 67 minutes (WhoScored), whereas, during the defeat to Arsenal, Fornals only crossed the ball once (WhoScored).
This goes some way to proving that Anderson looks to beat his man and get the ball into the box more often than Fornals and for that reason, we believe the 26-year-old’s name should be amongst the starters on Sunday.
Haller is the best player in the Premier League in terms of aerial battles so obviously, the more crosses played in to him, the better.
