According to Torino Granata, West Ham United are interested in signing Nicolas N’Koulou from Torino, but they face plenty of Premier League competition.
The centre-back is also being monitored by Wolverhampton Wanderers, Everton and AFC Bournemouth.
The report further states that Italian Serie A sides AS Roma, Napoli and Lazio are also keen to secure the former AS Monaco and Olympique Lyonnais defender’s signature.
The 29-year-old has played 19 times in the Serie A this season and also played a big part in Torino’s UEFA Europa League qualifying campaign at the start of the season (Transfermarkt).
READ WEST HAM VERDICT
The interest from the fellow top-flight teams could be a big problem as N’Koulou could be tempted to join Wolves or Everton because of their superior league position.
The Hammers are at risk of relegation and if they do drop down, then a move for N’Koulou would more than likely be off the cards.
Wolves are currently flying high in the league and in Europe and also operate a system that accommodates three centre-backs, meaning the Cameroon international may have more opportunities to play first-team football there.
With loanee Winston Reid very injury prone and Fabian Balbuena currently out of favour, we believe that identifying and signing a centre-back in the summer is a priority, but with other teams also keen on N’Koulou, maybe he isn’t worth pursuing because it could use time and resources for no reason.
